SURPRISE!! 31 Weeks Until You're Grandparents Cake!

Image
Received the cutest cake design request: A Baby Announcement Cake that reads: "31 Weeks Until You're Grandparents!" to surprise her parents while on a family vacation at a beach house in Ocean Beach.  She doesn't know yet if she is having a boy or a girl, so she wanted two small baby sneakers on top in baby blue, with baby pink and baby blue stripes along the sides, and a pink double ribbon in front, with tiny pink roses circling around the top. Congratulations to both you and your parents!!

Happy 21st Birthday Ribbon Gift Cake Present

Image
I received a call from someone in Fredricksburg to order a cake for her cousin who lives in the area.  She informed me that her cousin was attending culinary school and she wanted to surprise her with a cake (so that she wouldn't have to make her own!).  I hope she liked her surprise birthday cake with her favorite colors! Theme: 21st Birthday Cake: Vanilla Gold Butter Cake Filling: Vanilla Buttercream I baked the Vanilla Gold Butter Cakes, filled with 3 layers of Vanilla Buttercream filling for each tier (there is a 6 inch and 8 inch cake).  Then I covered the 6 inch cake with gray fondant, then added a thick pink ribbon around and white pearl buttercream dots at the base of the cake. Next, I covered the 8 in cake with purple fondant, then added the diamond lattice for the purple cake, then added a thin pink fondant ribbon and white pearl buttercream dots around. I made a large pink ribbon using half fondant half gumpaste so that it hardens and holds ...

Zebra Birthday Cake with a Lavender Ribbon Birthday Cake

Image
I received a request from a sweet lady who wanted to gift a birthday cake to her cousin.  She was driving all the way up from Hampton, VA, a 160 mile drive, to celebrate her cousin's 21st birthday. Her cousin loves zebra print and lavender, so I was to create a zebra patterned vanilla & strawberry flavor cake (zebra pattern cake means that when you cut into the cake you would see the zebra striped pattern…I would cut the cake to show you, but I didn't want to ruin Kathryn's cake!), covered in zebra pattern fondant to resemble a gift box, & tied with a lavender ribbon.  10 black, white, and lavender shooting stars would shoot out of the cake.  A fondant "name tag"was to read "Kathryn" with piped Happy 21st Birthday on the cake board.  I was informed that Kathryn was studying culinary at Stratford University, so I was very honored to create her birthday cake -- hope she liked it as much as I enjoyed making it! :-) Happy 21st Birthday, Kathr...
